Bedford County: Maryland man dead after motorcycle strikes tree stump, ejected

A Maryland man is dead after a motorcycle crash on Route 43 in Bedford County on Saturday.

Robert Ira Horenberg, 69, of Potomac, Md., died at the scene.

The crash occurred at 4:38 p.m. on Route 43, three miles east of Sheep Creek Road.

Horenberg’s 2024 Harley Davidson Road Glide was traveling east on Route 43, when the motorcycle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a stump, ejecting the operator.

Horenberg was the only person on the motorcycle. He was wearing a helmet.

The crash remains under investigation, according to Virginia State Police.
