lgo_mlb_baltimore_oriolesA J.J. Hardy RBI single in the ninth scored Everth Cabrera from second with the winning run in a 2-1 Baltimore win over Tampa Bay Friday night at Camden Yards.

Cabrera, pinch-running for Travis Snider, who led off the bottom of the ninth with a single, was still at first base with two outs. Chris Davis, who homered in the seventh to tie the game at 1-1, singled to right off Rays reliever Xavier Cedeno, advancing Cabrera to third.

Steve Geltz replaced Cedeno to face Hardy, who singled sharply to left on a 1-0 pitch for the walk-off.

Darren O’Day (1-0) vultured the win with a scoreless ninth ahead of the walk-off. Starter Miguel Gonzalez was dominant, giving up a run on three hits in eight innings of work, striking out six with no walks.

Tampa Bay starter Nate Karns was solid as well, giving up a lone hit in six scoreless innings, striking out seven and walking two.

Brandon Gomes (1-2) took the loss in relief.

Steven Souza homered in the second for Tampa to give the Rays the early lead.
