UVA alum Matt Schaub signed with the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday to serve as the backup to starting quarterback Joe Flacco.
Schaub, a 2004 graduate of the University of Virginia, spent one season in Oakland, where he lost the starting job to rookie Derek Carr. He had been the starter for the Houston Texans for seven seasons, throwing for more than 4,000 yards three times and was the MVP of the 2009 Pro Bowl.
In 139 career games with Houston, Oakland and Atlanta, Schaub has completed 63.9 percent of his passes for 24,311 yards, 130 touchdowns and 86 interceptions with a quarterback rating of 89.5.
Schaub replaces former Virginia Tech star Tyrod Taylor as the backup quarterback for the Ravens, who have had the fortune of seeing Flacco start 112 straight regular-season games.
