baltimore oriolesBaltimore made things interesting after falling behind 7-0, but the New York Yankees held on for an 8-6 win on Saturday at Camden Yards.

UVA alum Tyler Wilson (2-5, 4.39 ERA) got hammered in the middle innings. The game was scoreless through two, but New York (26-29) got on the board in the third on a sac fly RBI by Austin Romine, then tacked on four more in the fourth, chasing Wilson, who was charged with five runs on seven hits in four innings of work.

Down 7-0 in the seventh, the O’s (31-23) closed the gap with a solo homer by Mark Trumbo, his MLB-leading 18th, a two-run homer by Pedro Alvarez, his fifth, and a three-run shot by Adam Jones, his eighth.

An Alex Rodriguez RBI single in the top of the ninth gave the Yanks some insurance.

The Orioles weren’t able to get much going in its half of the ninth. A two-out walk to Jones brought Nolan Reimold to the plate as the possible tying run, but he was called out on strikes to end it.
