A Chris Davis RBI single broke a 3-3 eighth-inning tie and lifted the Baltimore Orioles to a 4-3 win over the Cleveland Indians on Friday.
Carlos Santana had tied the game in the top of the eighth with a solo homer, his ninth of the season, off O’s reliever Darren O’Day. Jimmy Paredes led off the bottom of the eighth with a double, and Davis followed with a single off Marc Rzepczynski (1-3).
Zach Britton gave up a hit in the ninth before closing things out for his 22nd save.
Wei-Yin Chin got a no-decision in a solid effort for Baltimore, going six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, striking out five and walking two.
J.J. Hardy homered for the Orioles, a solo shot in the second.
Baltimore (39-34) moves into a tie for second place in the American League East, a game and a half behind first-place Tampa Bay.
