Baltimore loses opener at Toronto, 5-1

baltimore oriolesBaltimore missed on a chance to tie Toronto for the AL wild-card lead in a 5-1 loss north of the border on Tuesday.

Kevin Gausman (8-12, 3.66 ERA, 1.28 WHIP) suffered his second straight loss, giving up five runs, four earned, on seven hits in six innings, striking out five and walking two.

Aaron Sanchez (14-2, 3.06 ERA, 1.19 WHIP) earned the win for the Blue Jays (87-70), giving up a run on five hits in six innings, striking out 10 and walking three.

The O’s (85-72) have a one-game lead on Detroit and a game and a half lead on Seattle in the battle for the second AL wild-card spot.
