Augusta Health Quilts of Comfort Auction set for April 12

Chris Graham

augusta-health-headerAugusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah’s annual ‘Quilts of Comfort’ auction will be held on Saturday, April 12 at Augusta Expoland in Fishersville.  The doors will open for viewing at 7:30 am, a Breakfast Buffet will be served from 8:00 to 9:00 am and the Live Auction will begin at 10:00 am.

The event also includes a silent auction.  Tickets are $15 per person, $10 for those between the ages of 6 and 12 years, and free for those less than 5 years of age.  The ticket includes the breakfast, which is provided by Kathy’s Restaurant.  A free ‘pre-show’ will be held on Friday, April 11 from 5-7 pm to offer a chance to preview the quilts and start the silent auction.  To purchase tickets, call 540.932.5037 or visit the website, www.quiltsofcomfort.org.

The event benefits Hospice of the Shenandoah’s Gifted Care Program at the Shenandoah House, a home-away-from-home that provides a warm and supportive environment for those unable to remain in their own homes during the final stage of life.  Each year, about 100 patients stay at Shenandoah House, but most stays are considered ‘residential care’, so not covered by Medicare or other insurance.  The Gifted Care Program was established to provide financial assistance to those staying at Shenandoah House.  Last year’s ‘Quilts of Comfort’ auction raised $50,000 for the Gifted Care Program.

Hospice of the Shenandoah is the hospice of Augusta Health, an independent, nonprofit community hospital whose mission is to promote the health and well-being of our community through access to excellent care.  Named one of the 100 Top Hospitals in America by Thomson Reuters in both 2011 and 2012, Augusta Health has also been nationally recognized by HealthGrades as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals and for clinical excellence and patient safety for the last three years.  For more information about Augusta Health or Hospice of the Shenandoah, please contact public relations at 540.245.7329 or 540.221.7329, or visit our website, www.augustahealth.com.
