Augusta Health nurses earn certifications

Contributors

augusta-health-headerOn March 19, National Certified Nurses Day, 33 Augusta Health nurses were recognized for their professionalism, leadership and commitment to excellent patient care for the national certifications they earned.

Board Certification of nurses requires demonstration of extensive knowledge in a subject area, usually by examination. “Over the past several years, board certification of nurses has played an increasingly important role in providing high standards of care for patients and their families.  I am very proud of the nurses who earn their national credentials. We encourage national certifications because it translates to improved quality and service to our patients and community,” said Bob McWhirt, DNP, Chief Nursing Officer at Augusta Health. “We also appreciate each employee’s commitment – these certifications are not easy to earn. They represent a significant investment of personal time and excellence.”

There are many nursing certification specialty areas in nursing–medical-surgery, pediatric, pain management, cardiovascular, oncology, hospice, case management, emergency nursing, critical care and many others. Although a registered nurse license provides entry to general nursing practice, board certification requires more extensive study.
