Augusta Health cardiovascular program earns Mission Lifeline Award from American Heart Association

augusta-health-headerAugusta Health’s cardiovascular program has achieved the Mission: Lifeline® Bronze Recognition Award from the American Heart Association.  Mission: Lifeline® is the American Heart Association’s national initiative to advance systems of care for patients with ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), with the goal of reducing mortality of STEMI patients and improving the quality of their care.

“This is an extraordinary accomplishment for our cardiovascular program,” says Mary N. Mannix, FACHE, President and CEO of Augusta Health.  “As a new participant in the National Cardiovascular Data Registry, this was the highest award that could be received.  It recognizes the high quality of care we provide to those in our community who are suffering heart attacks.  I appreciate the work and effort of our cardiology and cath lab team.  As a community member myself with a family history of heart disease, I am so reassured that this level of care will be here for those of us who may need it one day.”

The Mission:Lifeline® compliance criteria include a variety of quality measures related to door-to-balloon time for STEMI patients; administration of aspirin, beta blockers and statin drugs; and smoking cessation counseling for patients who smoke.

Augusta Health and other Mission:Lifeline® award recipients will be listed in US News and World Report.
