Augusta County: Staunton man dead in single-vehicle accident in Mint Spring

A Staunton man is dead following a single-vehicle accident in Mint Spring Wednesday night on Folly Mills Station Road.

A passenger in the vehicle, William D. Garland, 69, died at the scene.  Garland was wearing a seatbelt.

The driver, Wendy K. Halterman, 55, of Staunton, suffered serious injuries and was flown to UVA Medical Center. Halterman was also wearing a seatbelt.

Virginia State Police is investigating the crash that occurred at 9:50 p.m. on March 12.

According to VSP, the 2005 Subaru Forester was travelling westbound when it went off of the right side of the road, struck a culvert and then a tree in the 200 block of Folly Mills Station Road in Augusta County.

The Mint Spring crash remains under investigation.
