Augusta County residents now have access to a service called Augusta Alerts, a new emergency mass notification system being rolled out by the Augusta County Department of Emergency Management.

Per a press release from the county government, Augusta Alerts will replace CodeRed on Nov. 15, so, CodeRed users who want to continue receiving emergency notifications will have to register for Augusta Alerts before that date.

A final CodeRed message will go out to current subscribers encouraging them to make the switch.

Augusta Alerts is a free service for residents and visitors.

Powered by a company calling itself Everbridge, Augusta Alerts allows county officials to send rapid notifications via phone call, text message and email. The system can quickly reach targeted geographic areas, delivering vital updates to thousands of residents and visitors during emergencies.

“Our priority is the safety and security of our community,” said Patrick Lam, the Augusta County Emergency Management Coordinator. “This new system will allow us to communicate more effectively and efficiently with the public during emergencies, ensuring that everyone has the information they need to stay safe.”

Augusta Alerts gives users flexibility to choose how they receive alerts – by phone, text, or email – and what types of notifications they prefer.

Alerts may include severe weather warnings, public safety updates, and important community announcements.

How to sign up

  1. Visit Augusta Alerts Sign-Up or navigate to the county’s website and search for Emergency Alerts.
