Augusta County Administrator Timothy K. Fitzgerald announced the selection of John Wilkinson as the county’s next Director of Community Development.
Wilkinson, who will begin at the new job on March 1, will supervise a staff of 15 including planning, zoning, engineering, and building inspections.
For the past 16 years Wilkinson has served Augusta County as the zoning administrator. A 45-year resident of the Augusta County area, Wilkinson holds a bachelor’s degree in management and organizational development from Eastern Mennonite University and is a certified zoning administrator by the Virginia Association of Zoning Officials.
Wilkinson currently serves as secretary to the Augusta County Board of Zoning Appeals, and serves as chairman of Region 3 of the Virginia Association of Zoning Officials.
Wilkinson lives in Waynesboro with his wife Janet.
