Gunshots were reported in the area of the Wilson school complex in Fishersville, and Augusta County Sheriff’s Office deputies are currently responding.

All schools in the complex have been placed on “secure,” according to a statement from the ACSO. Secure means that all students and staff are safe inside the buildings.

Normal operating dismissal procedures are still in place. Today is the last day of school for students.

“Our deputies are actively investigating and working to determine the source of the reported gunfire,” said Leslie Snyder, administrative lieutenant for ACSO. “We will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available.”

The Wilson school complex includes Wilson Memorial High School, Wilson Middle School and Wilson Elementary School.

A 1 p.m. dismissal is scheduled today, according to the school system’s online calendar for students and parents.

No statement has been released from Augusta County Public Schools.

Three hours ago, the school system posted to social media well wishes for its graduates and wished students a “safe and happy summer vacation.”
