A Waynesboro father has been arrested and charged with felony abuse after his infant child sustained suspicious injuries.

Bryce Matthew Cowett, 34, was arrested on Monday in connection with an April 8 incident where the victim had received numerous rib fractures and a fractured arm.

Cowett has been charged with one count of felony abuse and neglect of a child.

The investigation was done by the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office and Child Protective Services after the incident was reported on April 17.

According to the ACSO, medical personnel and family members were interviewed to determine whether the injuries sustained by the infant were the result of an accident or were caused by abuse or neglect.

Cowett is currently being held at Middle River Regional Jail without bond.

The investigation is ongoing.

Online court records should the only other charges filed against Cowett in Virginia have been pertaining to a traffic infraction for speeding in 2016.
