Augusta County: Crimora man arrested after U.S. 340 pursuit

augusta countyStuart Ray Campbell Jr., 41, of Crimora, was arrested without incident on U.S. 340 after a brief pursuit on Saturday night.

Campbell was wanted on a warrant for violating the conditions of his release. Weeks earlier, Campbell was arrested for possession of controlled substances with in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a concealed weapon, and driving on a revoked license.

Information received by the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office revealed that Campbell may again be armed with a firearm. A vehicle matching the description of one Campbell was supposed to be operating was located in Waynesboro.

A traffic stop was initiated near Ladd, and the vehicle failed to yield. After a brief pursuit, at posted speeds, the vehicle stopped near the intersection of U.S. 340 and Kindig Road, where Campbell was taken into custody on the existing warrant.

Additional charges were filed against Campbell and he was jailed.

Campbell was charged with:

  • Possession of schedule I/II narcotics
  • Misdemeanor eluding driving on a revoked license
