Augusta County announces process to fill BOS seat

South River Supervisor David R. Beyeler passed away this week, and his death leaves an empty seat on the Augusta County Board of Supervisors.

The Code of Virginia provides a process for filling vacancies on the Board of Supervisors. The Board will be submitting to the Circuit Court a “writ for a special election” to be held at the next scheduled General Election, Nov. 4, 2014.

The BOS will be selecting an interim supervisor and interested candidates are encouraged to submit resumes and reasons for wanting to serve as an interim supervisor for the South River Magisterial District.

The Board will accept applications between now and Wednesday, March 5, at 5 p.m.  Interested candidates need to submit their applications to:

Verona, Va. 24482-0590.

The Board will consider all interested candidates and schedule interviews on Monday, March 10and Tuesday, March 11 at times to be announced.

The selected interim candidate will serve until a new supervisor is elected at the Nov. 4, 2014 Special Election.
