Allegheny County: Part of Route 633 to close twice in March for bridge work

Part of Route 633 (McKinney Hollow Road) in Alleghany County will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, March 5 to 6, and again Monday to Thursday, March 10 to 13.

The daytime closures are in the area of the Cowpasture River bridge, and will allow crews to stage equipment and remove an adjacent truss bridge.

During the bridge work, Route 633 will be closed to through traffic between Route 634 (Riverland Road) and the Botetourt County line.

Detours are as follows:

Drivers traveling north will need to take Route 633 (McKinney Hollow Road) south, Route 220 north, Longdale Furnace Road (Route 670/632/269) east, and then Route 633 (Sharon Lane/McKinney Hollow Road) to the end of the detour.
Drivers traveling south will need to take Route 633 (McKinney Hollow Road/Sharon Lane) north, Longdale Furnace Road (Route 269/632/670) west, Route 220 south and then Route 633 (McKinney Hollow Road) north to the end of the detour.

All work is weather permitting, and the schedule is subject to change.
