A fire in the 5000 block of Alberene Road in Albemarle County on Sunday displaced three adults and multiple pets.

Career and volunteer units from Albemarle County Fire Rescue responded to the 4:12 p.m. fire, in which heavy flames were reportedly visible from the attic of the second-story residential structure.

All but one cat managed to escape the fire safely, according to ACFR.

The Red Cross is assisting the displaced family and their animals.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s Office.
