A home that caught fire in the 2100 block of Loring Circle in Albemarle County is listed as a complete loss, and the family, which was not home at the time of the fire, lost two dogs in the blaze.

The fire was reported at 4:50 p.m. on Monday, according to Albemarle County Fire Rescue. A responding officer with the Albemarle County Police Department arrived three minutes after dispatch to discover a single-family residence fully engulfed in flames.

The first arriving suppression unit arrived on location six minutes after dispatch, at which time the structure fire was spreading to two nearby homes.

With assistance from the Charlottesville Fire Department, crews were able to contain and extinguish the fire at approximately 6:15 p.m.

There are no reported human injuries from this incident, though, as mentioned, two pet dogs died in the fire, and crews are still searching for pet cats.

The displaced residents are being assisted by family and friends.

The two neighboring homes sustained damage in the fire, but no residents are displaced.

The Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
