Time is running out to apply for Virginia Agriculture in the Classroom’s Teacher of the Year recognition; applications are due Dec. 7.
The purpose of the award is to recognize a Virginia teacher for excellence in incorporating agriculture into a core curriculum. All state-licensed pre-kindergarten through 12th grade teachers who are integrating agricultural concepts into non-vocational core subject areas are eligible to apply.
The teacher who is selected will receive a scholarship to attend the 2016 National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference June 20-24 in Phoenix. The Virginia winner also will be encouraged to apply for the National Agriculture in the Classroom Teacher of the Year recognition.
This year’s winner was Marlena “K” Preston, a kindergarten teacher at Belview Elementary School in Montgomery County. She also won a National AITC Teaching Award.
