AFP Business offers marketing classes

Chris Graham

Augusta Free Press LLC will begin a series of classes on web, social media, marketing and public relations beginning this week with the debut of Building the Machine 101.

Taught by AFP editor Chris Graham, the classes will provide you with the building blocks for an effective approach to reaching out to consumers, business-to-business clients, donors and sponsors.

Topics covered include website design, web marketing, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, advertising and public relations.

“It hasn’t been that long since we were asking questions about what we can do to make the web and Facebook work for us,” said Graham, whose expertise in web design, social media and marketing developed at the outset as a means of getting the word out about Augusta Free Press LLC.

“Which is to say, I’m not a book-taught expert. Everything we learned about the web and marketing in the 21st century, we learned through doing it ourselves to make our own business better,” Graham said.

The AugustaFreePress.com news website, the cornerstone of Augusta Free Press LLC, draws 4,000 unique visitors daily and more than 1 million page views  monthly. AFP was also a major part of the team that in 2011 launched Awesome Wrestling Entertainment, including building a Facebook presence for AWE with more than 126,000 fans and marketing a live televised international pay-per-view event.

Other AFP web and marketing clients include Mathers Construction, Barren Ridge Vineyards, the Waynesboro YMCA, the Valley Program for Aging Services and the County of Augusta.

The inaugural class in Building the Machine 101 will be offered Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 7-9 p.m. at the Augusta Free Press office, 421 W. Main St., Suite D, Waynesboro, Va.
