AEW needed to draw a big number for ‘Dynamite’ this week: It failed

aew logo This week’s AEW “Dynamite” averaged 586,000 viewers, continuing a concerning trend dating back to the spring.

The show largely improved on last week’s poor effort post-“Full Gear,” resident AEW beat writer Ray Petree told me on our weekly AEW podcast, which we recorded on Friday.

But as has been the case for a few years now, the show shedded viewers over the course of the two hours, frustratingly dropping off a cliff with what was a good women’s segment in the 9:30 p.m. ET quarter-hour, highlighted by match pitting Penelope Ford and Anna Jay.

Ray and I talk about what AEW is doing right, and areas where the company can look to shore up weaknesses, on this week’s podcast.

Podcast: What can AEW do to get more people to tune in?
