Accomack County: Route 13 shut down after collision kills one, injures eight

According to State Police, Gina Alvarez Dela Cruz, 42, Stroudsburg, Pa., died at an area hospital due to injuries sustained in the crash.

A Subaru Impreza was heading southbound on Route 13 when it crossed the median and struck a Toyota Sienna minivan heading northbound. Gina Alvarez Dela Cruz was a front-seat passenger in the minivan.

There were seven other people in the minivan that were injured, including the driver, Leobert Samon Dela Cruz, 43.

The female driver of the Subaru, who has not been identified, suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital.

To date, the accident resulted in one fatality and eight injuries, according to VSP.

A fatal head-on collision in Virginia has killed one person and injured nine people this afternoon on Route 13 in Accomack County.

Virginia State Police said there was one fatality, and reportedly nine injuries, with three people airlifted to hospitals.

The accident on the Eastern Shore is under investigation.

The crash occurred near Parks Road at approximately 12:20 p.m. and involved a Toyota minivan and a Subaru sedan.

All lanes on Route 13 are currently shut down in the area.
