ACC Football: FSU-Georgia Tech, SMU-Nevada open in Week Zero

Three teams from ACC will be in action as the 2024 college football season kicks off this weekend, and one of them is SMU.

It’s gonna take a while to get used to that.

The slate includes one conference game, a showdown between No. 10 Florida State and Georgia Tech in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic in Dublin, Ireland.

SMU will also be in action on the road against Nevada.

No. 10 Florida State vs. Georgia Tech

Day/time: Saturday, noon ET

Series: Florida State leads series, 15-11-1

Last meeting: Florida State, 41-16 (2022)

Preview: After winning the 2023 ACC Football Championship, Florida State was also picked as the preseason favorite to win the 2024 championship. The Seminoles are 23-4 in the past two seasons, the best mark in the ACC and fourth in FBS, including a perfect 8-0 record in ACC play last year. The Seminoles entering the game having won 11 straight ACC regular-season contests. Georgia Tech is coming off of a seven-win season – its highest single-season total since 2018.
