ACC Basketball: I still have eight in the NCAAs, but some movement among them

Duke, the current frontrunner in the ACC, is the new #1 team in the nation, after a win over then-#1 Michigan on Saturday in DC.

Virginia is #11 in the AP Top 25 this week, on the strength of what is now an eight-game winning streak.

Not to look too far ahead, but the ‘Hoos (24-3, 12-2 ACC) and Dookies (25-2, 13-1 ACC) meet at noon on Saturday in Durham.

Other big games this week:

  • NC State (19-8, 10-4 ACC) at Virginia (24-3, 12-2 ACC), 7 p.m. Tuesday
  • Miami (21-6, 10-4 ACC) at Florida State (14-13, 7-7 ACC), 9 p.m. Tuesday
  • SMU (19-8, 8-6 ACC) at Cal (19-8, 7-7 ACC), 10 p.m. Tuesday
  • Louisville (20-7, 9-5 ACC) at Clemson (20-8, 10-5 ACC), 2 p.m. Saturday
  • Virginia Tech (18-10, 7-8 ACC) at North Carolina (21-6, 9-5 ACC), 8:30 p.m. Saturday

Bracketology update

Duke, with the win over Michigan, remains on the #1 NCAA seed line.

The big mover, in a bad way: Clemson.

The Tigers have lost four in a row.

I had them as a 6 seed three weeks ago; now they’re a 10, with Louisville at home on Saturday, and a game at North Carolina next week.

They could be playing their way completely out of the field.
