JMU is recognizing all veterans of the armed forces today, in particular those 6,865 veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice in the Global War on Terror in Iraq and Afghanistan, with an extensive flag display on the Quad.
The public is invited to the Quad to reflect on the bravery and sacrifice of those who have served or are currently serving, and their families. Flags will be removed at 5 p.m. today. High res photos of the display are available for media use, and students from JMU’s Army ROTC Duke Battalion, Air Force ROTC and Student Veterans Association will be on site. Also, JMU is currently home to approximately 250 students who have served or are currently serving in various branches of the service.
