Three James Madison University players received preseason all-conference recognition, and JMU was picked to finish third in its division in a coaches and media poll announced during the Colonial Athletic Association’s football media day at the ESPNZone Wednesday.

Senior offensive guard Dorian Brooks (Richmond, Va./Highland Springs), senior kick returner Scotty McGee (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) and senior defensive end Arthur Moats (Portsmouth, Va./Churchland) were the JMU players named to the preseason all-conference team. A first-team offense, first-team defense and three specialists were cited.

Richmond, which returns 18 starters off last year’s NCAA championship team, and Villanova, which returns 16 starters from 2008, were picked to share the overall CAA title. New Hampshire, last season’s North Division winner, was also picked to repeat in the North according to a vote of the league’s 12 head coaches and selected media.

JMU, which won last season’s CAA title with an 8-0 record, received one vote for first place in the South and was picked third in the division behind Richmond and Villanova, both of whom received nine first-place votes. The Dukes were 12-2 overall last season. New Hampshire received 12 first-place votes and Massachusetts seven in North Division.
