Dr. Ken Rutherford, director of JMU’s Center for International Stabilization and Recovery, will speak about Landmines, Bosnia and the Legacy of Princess Diana as a part of JMU’s International Week, a week dedicated to commemorating cultural diversity at JMU.
The event is free and open to the public and will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24 at the Festival Conference and Student Center on the JMU campus east of Interstate 81. Campus visitors may park in lots D3, C11, and C12.
The talk will feature personal stories and artifacts from Rutherford as well as a reception with foods from the Balkans region of Southeastern Europe, which compliments this year’s I-Week theme of “Food & Food for Thought: Feed Your Global I.Q.”
Rutherford has 20 years of experience dedicated to reducing the ramifications of landmines and remnants of war in post-conflict areas around the world as well as experience working with Princess Diana in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
