Scherzer pitches Nationals to 5-0 win at Miami

nationals_logoMax Scherzer notched his first win since July 30, and the Washington Nationals snapped a five-game losing streak with a 5-0 win in Miami on Sunday.

Scherzer (12-11, 2.91 ERA) gave up five hits in eight innings of work, striking out six and walking none.

Matt den Dekker hit his third homer of the season, a solo shot in the sixth.

Brad Hand (4-8, 5.32 ERA) took the loss for the Marlins, giving up three runs on five hits in three and a third innings.
