A Steve Pearce homer broke a 3-3 eighth-inning tie, and a Chris Davis RBI double added some ninth-inning insurance for the Baltimore Orioles in a 5-3 win over the New York Yankees on Wednesday.
The rally made a winner out of O’s starter Ubaldo Jimenez (11-9, 4.22 ERA), who gave up three runs on four hits in seven innings, striking out eight without issuing a walk.
Baltimore (67-72) took the weekday series with the win in the rubber game.
