Interstate 81 lane closures in the Shenandoah Valley: Aug. 23-29

i81-headerLane closures are scheduled for Interstate 81 in Rockbridge, Rockingham, Shenandoah and Frederick counties from August 23-29. These closures all take place during overnight hours, and will allow crews to perform maintenance and construction work in several locations. All work is weather permitting.

Rockbridge County, mile marker 190 to 195, northbound – Crews will be paving and working on guardrail Sunday night from 10 p.m. until 7 a.m. the following morning, and on Monday through Thursday nights from 8 p.m. until 7 a.m. the following morning. Left or right lane closure each night. Shoulder closures are in place during daylight hours.

Rockingham County, mile marker 259 to 262, northbound – Single lane closures for soil testing Monday through Thursday nights from 8 p.m. until 7 a.m. the following morning.

Shenandoah County, mile marker 265 to 275, northbound – Single lane closures at various locations for milling and paving Tuesday through Thursday nights, 7 p.m. until 9 a.m. the following morning. Shoulder closures at various locations for guardrail work on Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Frederick County, mile marker 310 to 311, northbound and southbound – Left lanes closed overnight for excavation work in the median as part of the Interstate 81 Exit 310 interchange modification project. Closures run Monday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, and Friday from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.the following morning. Motorists should be alert for trucks entering and exiting the work zone. The right and left shoulders are closed 24/7 in this area.

The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.

For other assistance call the VDOT Customer Service Center, available 24 hours-a-day, seven days a week. Citizens can dial 1-800-FOR- ROAD (1-800-367-7623) from anywhere in the state to report road hazards, ask transportation questions, or get information related to Virginia’s roads.
