Former VMI infielder Jordan Tarsovich was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 22nd round of the MLB draft. He is the second Keydet picked in the draft, after former teammate Matt Winn was chosen by the San Francisco Giants in the 14th round, and is the first middle infielder drafted out of VMI since Chad Rice in 2007.
Tarsovich finished his Keydet career hitting .337 with a SoCon-best 24 stolen bases while playing both second base and shortstop. He finished in the top-10 in VMI career history in seven different categories – doubles, triples, stolen bases, on-base percentage, hit by pitches, walks and runs scored.
“I feel very fortunate and extremely excited to continue my baseball career with the Dodger organization,” stated Tarsovich.
“We could not be happier for Jordan and this opportunity he has with the Dodgers,” said VMI head coach Jonathan Hadra. “He has been such a huge impact on our program, not only on the field, but also with his leadership, daily work ethic and competitive spirit that will certainly leave a lasting impact, not only on his teammates, but on his coaches as well. Of note, Tarsovich’s name was called as a second baseman.
