vbl2Junior right-hander Walter Borkovich (Michigan State) scattered four hits and struck out eight without a walk in eight innings as Staunton remained in the first place in the South with a 6-2 win at Harrisonburg Wednesday in Valley League Baseball.

The Braves took advantage of four Harrisonburg errors, leading to five unearned runs while improving to 4-0.  The Turks lost for the first time in three consecutive home outings and fell to 3-2.

Shortstop Kameron Gellinger (Central Florida) and designated hitter Kevin Abraham (Florida Atlantic) each collected a pair of hits for the Braves.  Right fielder Andy Szamski (Concord) drove in a pair of runs.

Harrisonburg third baseman Stephen McLean (Baylor) was the only Turk with multiple hits, going 2-for-3.  Catcher Joe Lytle (Oklahoma City University) drove in a run with a third-inning triple.

The Turks play their next six games on the road, beginning with tomorrow’s trek to Covington (7 p.m.) for the second time in less than a week.  Harrisonburg thumped the Lumberjacks 11-0 in the season opener last Friday evening.  The Turks’ next home date is June 18 versus Covington.
