A pair of four-spots broke a 2-2 tie and pushed Toronto to a 10-2 win over Baltimore Tuesday night at Camden Yards.
Chris Tillman (2-5) had been cruising, taking a 2-1 lead into the sixth, having given up a run on five hits. Edward Encarnacion led off the sixth with a homer to tie the game at 2, and Tillman hit the next batter, Russell Martin, before getting out of the inning with no further damage.
The further damage was to come in the seventh, when the Blue Jays erupted for four runs, the highlight of the rally being another Encarnacion homer, a two-run shot, off reliever Tommy Hunter.
The Jays added four more in the eighth, the big blow coming on a Josh Donaldson two-run homer off reliever T.J. McFarland.
Manny Machado was 3-for-4 at the plate, batting again out of the leadoff spot. The O’s as a team could manage just five hits on the night.
Toronto starter Mark Buehrle (5-2) got the win, giving up two runs on four hits in six innings of work, striking out four and walking one.
