VDOT Small Business Fair is Sept. 25 in Culpeper

Chris Graham

vdot logoSmall businesses have a big opportunity to become eligible vendors of the Virginia Department of Transportation. On Thursday, Sept. 25 from 4 to 7 p.m., VDOT will host a Small Business Fair at its Culpeper District office, 1601 Orange Road, Culpeper.

Each year the Culpeper District makes more than 40 percent of its purchases with locally owned businesses. In 2013 that totaled nearly $36 million spent on goods and services ranging from office supplies to gravel to custodial work and more.

The Small Business Fair will teach owners of small businesses how to enroll with and maximize use of eVA, the Commonwealth’s electronic procurement system, and the small, women-owned and minority-owned (SWAM) business certification program. These steps are essential to doing business not only with VDOT but other state and local government agencies.

Those interested in attending the event should contact Donna Backe, Culpeper District Procurement Manager, at [email protected] to confirm your attendance.

More information about doing business with VDOT can be found here: www.virginiadot.org/business/bu_bizDev.asp.
