economic-forecast-headerOn Thursday, May 22, 2014, the Shenandoah Valley Small Business Development Center will host the third annual BIG Small Business Event for business owners and managers.  The conference will be held in Blue Ridge Community College’s Plecker Center, 8:00am to 4:00pm.

“This conference offers a unique opportunity for the business community to meet and learn together,” says Joyce Krech, SV SBDC Director. “The day includes such a range of workshop topics; there will be more than enough choices for everyone’s needs. We use the theme of ‘Learn. Act. Profit.’ because we know attendees will leave with productive ideas and strategies.”

Stan Phelps, founder of 9inch Marketing of Cary NC, will open the morning as keynote speaker. Phelps brings 20 years of marketing leadership experience and will share proven strategies for increasing customer retention and referrals. Attendees can then select from 16 workshops on topics ranging from alternative financing options to working in family-owned businesses to building and using mobile apps for their business.

To view the full agenda and register for the BIG Small Business Event, visit www.ValleySBDC.org/BigEvent2014or call 540-568-3227. The early-bird fee is only $49 [$65 after May 9] and includes morning coffee, lunch, and breaks.  The conference is hosted by the SV SBDC with sponsorship support from Union First Market Bank, the Shenandoah Valley Society for Human Resource Management, and other local business supporters.

The SV SBDC is a resource partner to the Small Business Administration and James Madison University and has been providing no-fee, confidential consultations; low-cost training options; and connections to federal, state, and local resources to the Valley’s business community for 25 years.
