Indy promoter alleges Jeff Jarrett in physical altercation over pay

Chris Graham

jeff_jarrettIWA Mid-South promoter Ian Rotten is alleging that Jeff Jarrett got into a physical altercation with Rotten’s 17-year-old son in a dispute over pay at an indy show Sunday night.

What actually happened will likely be a matter of conjecture for some time, with Rotten saying publicly that he plans to file charges against Jarrett, with a threat of a civil suit probably not far behind.

The bigger question: what is Jarrett doing working indy shows when he’s about to launch a new national promotion?

Jarrett announced earlier this month his plans for a new company, Global Force Wrestling, that are expected to include, significantly, a TV component. Jarrett was a driving force behind the growth of TNA Impact Wrestling, a company that he founded and continues to be a large investor in.

Meantime, he’s out working shows for the likes of Rotten, who according to a story on the alleged altercation in The Examiner is notorious for having had repeated issues paying wrestlers what he has promised.

According to The Examiner report, Rotten paid Jarrett half his undisclosed fee with a promise to pay the difference in “two or three days,” with Rotten saying that the money issue was a result of him having forgotten to draw down the rest of the advance from his PayPal account.

Neither Jeff Jarrett nor his wife, Karen, have addressed the allegations from Rotten publicly at this point.
