Virginia State Police troopers and supervisor had a busy Wednesday with the snow, ice and heavy rains across the Commonwealth.
The following is a breakdown of calls for service by Virginia State Police from 12:01 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 26, 2012) through 2 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 26, 2012). During this time period, VSP has received 1,920 calls for service and responded to 686 traffic crashes statewide. Fortunately, the majority of the crashes have involved only damage to vehicles and few injuries.
Virginia State Police are currently working a fatal crash in Campbell County right now…one confirmed fatality. As for the Christmas holiday, preliminary numbers report there have been a total of 6 traffic crashes during the Christmas holiday: City of Arlington, Augusta County, Botetourt County, Dinwiddie County, Fauquier County, & Halifax County.
