Virginia State Police is trying to revive a 2005 cold case in which a Nelson County teenager was killed in a hit-and-run.

VSP put out a release on Thursday requesting help with information in a Sept. 10, 2005, hit-and-run in the Lowesville Road/Firehouse Road area, near the Piney River community.

The 17-year-old male pedestrian – no name was given in the release – was killed in the crash that would have taken place around midnight.

The striking vehicle did not stop and has not been located.

There were no witnesses to the crash.

That’s literally what we were told in the release.

The goal here seems to be, somebody obviously knows something; perhaps the driver unburdened themselves to a friend or family member.

Given the location, it would almost certainly have been local traffic; the location where the accident happened is a little more than a mile from Route 151.

This wasn’t somebody driving through.

Anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to call Virginia State Police Division 3 Dispatch at (540) 444-7778 or email [email protected].
