Notebook: Book talks at New Dominion Bookshop in the month of September

Here are some highlights from the schedule of book talks at New Dominion Bookshop in Downtown Charlottesville for the month of September.

• Friday, Sept. 11, 7 p.m. Author Ebony Walden will be speaking about and reading from her debut memoir, Where I’m From: A Poetic Journey Across Five Continents, which will be released from She Writes Press. An audience Q&A will follow.
• Saturday, Sept. 12, 7 p.m. Charlottesville native Lucy Alford will be reading from her debut poetry collection, Daylight / Savings, which was released from Black Square Editions in the spring. A conversation with UVA professor Lisa Russ Spaar will follow.
• Friday, Sept. 18, 7 p.m. Author Louise Marburg will be reading from her debut novel, Fancy Meeting You, which was released from Blair Publishing earlier this summer. A conversation with Jody Hobbs Hesler will follow.
• Saturday, Sept. 19, 7 p.m. Poet Susannah Nevison will be reading from her latest work, and Christopher Kondrich will be reading from his new poetry collection, Tread Upon.
• Friday, Sept. 25, 7 p.m. Poet Kiki Petrosino will be reading from her new poetry collection, Perfect Italian, which will be released from Sarabande earlier that week. A conversation with Hodges Adams will follow. The evening will also include a brief reading from the newly released Spanish translation of Kiki Petrosino’s previous book Bright, which will be read by the translator, Elizabeth Mirabal.
• Saturday, Sept. 26, 7 p.m. Poet Kari Gunter-Seymour will be reading from her new  collection, All That Teethes Within, which will be released from the University of Kentucky Press later this fall. Event attendees will have a special opportunity to purchase the book as an early release during the event only. The event will also include a conversation with Sharon Perkins Ackerman.
