A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the return of property taken in a residential burglary in Augusta County that came to be known when a high school student said he had silver coins stolen off a school bus.

The report was made to a school resource officer at Riverheads High School in January; a subsequent investigation launched by the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the theft, from a barn in Middlebrook, took place last summer.

The first reporting on this from the Sheriff’s Office told us that the theft involved “more than $50,000 in silver coins and other property”; we have to assume now, with a $50,000 reward being offered, that what was taken involved substantially more than $50,000 of value.

Two adults – Nicole L. Kieber, 38, of Middlebrook, and Donald Lynn Marshall, 35, of Staunton – have been charged in the theft, along with several unnamed juveniles.

Anyone who has information regarding the location of the stolen property or information that may assist investigators is encouraged to contact the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office at 540-245-5333.
