Update: Friday, 7:11 p.m. One man was pronounced deceased at the scene of this morning’s shooting. A second man was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased have been identified as Rai’Shon Eugene Delarge, 30, and Philip Avery Wilson, 34, both of Emporia.
Both men were employed by a company contracted by VDOT.
First report: Friday, 12:35 p.m. One VDOT contract employee was killed, and another injured, in a shooting at a highway staging area in Chesterfield County on Friday morning.
Virginia State Police got the call at 9:27 a.m. about the incident, which took place on a VDOT property used as a staging area near the intersection of Route 1 and Route 288 northbound in Chesterfield County.
State Police do not have a suspect in custody at this time, per a release.
The shooting is believed to be domestic-related.
