United Way to host Veterans Resource Fair

The United Way of Greater Augusta will be holding a Veterans Resource Fair in collaboration with the Staunton Veteran’s Day Parade, Saturday, Nov. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Central United Methodist Church located at the corner of North Lewis Street and West Beverley Street in Staunton.

The event will connect veterans and their families with services and programs provided by local agencies and businesses that support veterans, their families, and caregivers.

Some of the organizations scheduled include, the Department of Veteran Services, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Daily Living Center, Crossroads to Brain Injury Recovery, Virginia Employment Commission, Hepatitis C Veterans, Virginia Wounded Warrior Program, DMV2Go mobile center, VA Medical Center mobile van, Employer Support of Guard and Reserve, Talking Book Center, Therapeutic Adventures, ParadeRest, National Alliance for Mental Illness, AgrAbility and the Virginia Hearing Group.

Over a dozen organizations providing information on job placement, adaptive outdoor recreation, adult supervised care and rehabilitative services, information on adaptive agricultural equipment and community based services to provide a network of support for the veteran and their families.

Throughout the event the United Way of Greater Augusta will be offering over $2,000 in prizes donated from local businesses such as gift cards to restaurants, free oil changes, tickets to area sporting events and entertainment, gift baskets and an opportunity to win a chartered fishing trip, to name a few.
