A bomb threat at the University of Virginia reported on Friday is one of three to Virginia colleges and universities that got the attention of authorities.
UVA Police responded to an emailed bomb threat at Shannon Library that led to the evacuations of the Clemons and Shannon libraries around 11 a.m.
No bomb was discovered during the investigation, and the threat was determined to be a hoax possibly linked to the similar threats sent to Virginia colleges on Friday, per a UVA spokesperson.
The libraries were reopened around 1:45 p.m. once the scene was confirmed to be safe, and both locations have resumed normal operations, the spokesperson said by email.
Bridgewater College ordered the evacuation of Forrer Learning Commons at 12:47 p.m. due to a bomb threat communicated to officials there.
School officials confirmed that the threat had been cleared as of 1:59 p.m.
George Mason University posted on its Facebook page at 12:54 p.m. that Fenwick Library had been closed due to a bomb threat.
There is no update on the status of the situation at Mason at this writing.
