A 24-year-old from Raphine died in a crash in Augusta County during the weekend’s heavy rain from the remnants of Hurricane Isaias.

Trajon Macai-Jaheim Richards, 24, of Raphine, was traveling northbound on Route 340 about a mile and half north of Route 11 at 7:54 a.m. Sunday when his 2011 BMW 538I hydroplaned and crossed the centerline.

The vehicle turned perpendicular to the road and was struck by a 2021 Toyota Tacoma.

Richards died at the scene, per a report from Virginia State Police.

The driver of the Tacoma suffered minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
