George Mason held Rhode Island to 35.2 percent shooting in a 63-50 win on Saturday in Fairfax.

Mason (14-1, 2-0 A-10, NET: 77) built on its best start in program history with the dub.

“I’m so much happier when we keep teams to 50 points,” Mason coach Tony Skinn said. “We found our way and our identity in late-clock scenarios. These guys locked in, and it was a big reason why we got this win.”

Rhode Island (9-6, 0-2 A-10, NET: 143) opened the second half on a 7-0 run to take a 33-31 lead.

The game was back-and-forth for a long stretch, before Mason broke things open with a 14-5 run that put the Patriots up by double-digits.

Stas Sivka put up career-highs in points (17) and rebounds (6) while going 6-of-9 from the field and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc.

Kory Mincy added nine points, six rebounds and team-high four assists, while Fatt Hill notched nine points (6-6 FT) in 20 minutes.
