Chesterfield: One person seriously injured in crash on Interstate 95 Tuesday night

One person suffered serious injuries after a crash Tuesday night on Interstate 95 in Chesterfield.

According to Virginia State Police, the driver’s injuries were non-life-threatening, and they were transported to an area hospital for treatment. No name was released.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:14 p.m. at the 58 mile marker on northbound I-95.

A Safety Service Patrol vehicle contracted by the Virginia Department of Transportation had finished assisting drivers on the left shoulder of the interstate and pulled into the left lane of the interstate when it was struck by the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the SSP was the person who suffered injuries; the driver of the SSP was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
