A Portsmouth man is dead following a shooting that occurred early Saturday morning.

Micah L. Bell, 37, suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Norfolk Police report officers were sent to the Wawa convenience store located at 975 E. Little Creek Road for the report of a gunshot victim at 5:50 a.m. When officers arrived, they found Bell.

Shortly after, police were called to another Wawa, this one located at 6301 N. Military Highway, for a report of a second gunshot victim. Officers arrived and found another man with non-life-threatening injuries, and he was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Detectives determined that the two incidents were related and found that the shooting had actually occurred in the 1800 block of E. Little Creek Road.

The second victim, Miquail D. Owens, 28, of Norfolk, remains hospitalized.

Following his release from the hospital, he will be taken to Norfolk City Jail and held without bond. Owens has been charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm, according to police.

No additional information has been released.
