Litigious FSU embarrassed by middle-of-the-pack Georgia Tech in season opener

Florida State might want to file another lawsuit against the ACC, this one for making them look bad against a mid team before the season even started.

The ‘Noles, the preseason favorite to win the conference, were pushed around on both sides of the line of scrimmage by Georgia Tech, which was picked to finish ninth, in a 24-21 Yellow Jackets win in Dublin, Ireland, on Saturday, in a Week Zero game.

For FSU, hey, they’ll always have the power of the brand name, which, no doubt, is more important, long term, than actually winning games on the field.

At least this year we won’t have to hear them cry about a weak ACC holding them back at playoff-selection time, ahead of their guys deciding to bolt for the NFL Draft and transfer portal and leaving a team of third-stringers and walk-ons to play the bowl game.

Georgia Tech exposed FSU, gaining 190 yards on the ground against what was supposed to be the ACC’s best defensive front seven, and keeping the offense led by much-traveled transfer QB DJ Uiagalelei largely in check.

Uiagalelei was 19-for-27 for 193 yards, but 13 of his completions were on balls that traveled five or fewer yards downfield – basically, dink and dunk.

Next up for ACC fans: we can hope preseason national #1 Georgia makes our preseason ACC #2, Clemson, feel litigious, next week between the hedges.
