IT AIN’T $4 A GALLON ANYMORE. HURRAY. Still in sticker shock
I’ve seen prices on the signs in the $3.40 or so range the past couple of days. We were at or near $4 a month ago, so that’s good, relatively.
Sign o’ the times, though, that we’re jumping up and down happy about $3.40-something a gallon. I remember writing stories before the Iraq war about how upset we were about $1.50 a gallon.

So Barack Obama isn’t going to ask the former Senate majority leader who lost his last election to be his running mate.

Hey, somebody go ask George Allen if he’s taking himself out of the running for the McCain #2 slot.
I mean, do I need to put out a press release saying that I’m not going to be Obama’s VP? This is getting ridiculous.
MIKEY’S GONNA GET GROUNDED: The Grohs disagree
So UVa. offensive coordinator Mike Groh tells us reporter types on a conference call yesterday that he expects a starting quarterback to be in place by the start of game prep for Southern Cal tomorrow, and teases us with the idea that there would be an announcement coming from his dad to that effect.
Then dad, coach Al Groh, all but tells us that he hasn’t changed his mind on the notion of not naming a quarterback until the time is right, which he thus implies in the course of doing so that the time ain’t right, not right now, anyway.
Which probably led to an interesting conversation not long after the talking with reporters was done.
“You work under my roof, son,” I can imagine Papa Groh saying, channeling Frank Costanza, “you’re going to live by my rules. You’re grounded!”
